The Met Office has issued a rain and wind warning for southeast England on Saturday evening.

The warning states: “Intense rainfall (10 to 15 mm in around half an hour) and winds gusting to
40-45 mph, possibly locally 50-55 mph near the south coast, will make for tricky travel through the rest of
the evening.

Some flooding is possible on roads, along with a few fallen branches. Conditions will gradually
ease from the west.”

A short period of very heavy rain and gusty winds will make for difficult travel and temporary flooding of some roads

What to expect

  • Spray, flooding and possible tree branches on roads could make journey times longer
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Some interruption to power supplies is possible
