A woman was mugged and robbed in Portsmouth yesterday evening.
The incident happened in Gresham Street, Somerstown, at around 9.40pm on Thursday evening.
A man wearing a green khaki long coat,hood up and a scarf around his face grabbed the woman causing her to fall to the ground. The man than dragged her along the ground. The woman graze her hands.
The man than ran off with the woman purse across Greetham Street and over the railway bridge.. Police have launched a manhunt to catch the street robber. They are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
The wallet is described as black leather with a zip around the middle, and with tassels on. There were a number of items inside the wallet including ID cards, bank cards, £30 in cash and some Chinese currency.
Detective Constable Katie Wakefield, said: “We are appealing for witnesses that may have seen this man in the city centre before the robbery, or saw him running away from the scene afterwards. We would also like to speak to anyone who may have found any discarded items that could have been from the victims’ wallet. If you do have any information, please come and speak to us.”
