Police officers are releasing an e-fit image of a man that they want to speak to following a serious assault at an address on Shearer Road in Portsmouth on Monday evening.
Officers were called just before 7pm after a 17 year-old girl had been assaulted with a weapon believed to be a hammer, leaving her with a serious head injury.
She remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.[photoshelter-gallery g_id=”G0000Pi1XfJbd32M” g_name=”Hammer-Scenes” width=”800″ f_fullscreen=”t” bgtrans=”t” pho_credit=”iptc” twoup=”f” f_bbar=”t” f_bbarbig=”f” fsvis=”f” f_show_caption=”t” crop=”f” f_enable_embed_btn=”t” f_htmllinks=”t” f_l=”t” f_send_to_friend_btn=”f” f_show_slidenum=”t” f_topbar=”f” f_show_watermark=”t” img_title=”casc” linkdest=”c” trans=”xfade” target=”_self” tbs=”5000″ f_link=”t” f_smooth=”f” f_mtrx=”t” f_ap=”t” f_up=”f” height=”400″ btype=”old” bcolor=”#CCCCCC” ]
An e-fit image is now being released of the man seen running across Shearer Road and into Beecham Road past the Shearer Arms Public House at 7pm. We need to speak to him, as he may be able to assist our enquiries.
Police are now considering whether this address was specifically targeted due to links with the sex trade and are working with charities and support agencies to ensure that community groups that may be affected by this development are given appropriate advice about personal safety.
The man shown in the e-fit image is described as:
* Small/Medium build.
* 5ft 5ins tall.
* He has short light brown hair and a short beard.
* He was wearing a brown coat, jeans, and light coloured trainers.
Superintendent Will Schofield who is in charge of policing in Portsmouth said: “””Officers from across the city and other areas of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are working tirelessly to progress this investigation to secure justice for the victim. We are continuing to treat this as an isolated incident at this time, but I’d like to re-assure the local community that we are actively patrolling the area and these officers are happy to address any concerns that you may have if you speak to them.
“A number of active lines of enquiry are still being followed, but I’d urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 4pm and 7:30pm to contact us”.
