Gamble Pays off for Portsmouth Summer Show

gamble pays off for portsmouth summer show

It’s always a gamble when you hold an outside event but luckily the weather was on the side of the organisers – well mostly – for the Portsmouth Summer Show this weekend.
Back for a second year but this time as a two-day event, the show at King George V Playing Field in Cosham attracted thousands of families and music lovers to what was a spectacular star-studded festival.
Earlier this year than last, there were some concerns about the timing but it paid off with visitors coming prepared for all types of weather who were determined not to let anything put them off having a great time.
From local bands to X Factor stars, there was something for everyone in the line up and what a line up it was.

Former X Factor contestant,Lucy Spraggan, wowed the audience with her quirky style while Peter Andre’s tribute to Prince was well appreciated by the crowds.
Sunday saw another X Factor contestant belt out some classics as Sam Bailey took to the stage. Followed by a surprisingly popular Reggie and Bollie – again of X Factor fame– the boys were a hit with the crowd and their energetic and friendly style had the audience jumping.

Dance Crew, Diversity, was a main draw and they left the crowd wanting more as they showed off their routine, and introduced Theo, the latest and youngest member of the group.
It was then time for Five and Fun Loving Criminals who were the last acts of the show.
Other stages across the grounds gave local bands a chance to showcase their talents and mention has to be made of Rhythm of the 90s who had their own disco going on in the corner.

The Portsmouth Summer Show isn’t just about the music. There were plenty of activities on offer and the daytime is very much aimed at families. With entertainment set up across the field for children of all ages, and an impressive fun fair, we hope the Portsmouth Summer Show will be a firm fixture in Portsmouth’s calendar for years to come.
