A Woman is fighting for life after being found seriously assaulted in the Pokesdown area of Bournemouth on Monday evening.

Police were called by hospital staff at Poole Hospital just before 1am this morning after paramedics had rushed the woman to hospital.
Ambulance staff found the woman with serious head injuries at a flat in Clarence Park Road, Pokesdown around 8pm on Monday.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said : Detectives have launched an investigation this morning after a woman was found seriously injured in Bournemouth – with one man having been arrested.

Officers were called at 12.53am today, Tuesday 3 May 2016, by staff at Poole Hospital to reports that a woman was found with serious head injuries shortly after 8pm yesterday at an address in Clarence Park Road in the Pokesdown area of the town.

The woman, aged in her 40s, is said to be in a life-threatening condition. Her family have been informed.

A cordon is in place in Clarence Park Road while crime scene investigators examine the scene. Officers are also conducting house-to-house enquiries in the area.

Detective Inspector Neil Phillips, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “We believe that this woman may have been assaulted and I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area of Clarence Park Road yesterday evening to please call me urgently.”

A 36-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.
