Police,Fire Specialists and Scene of crime officers have been working with detectives behind a sealed off area on the High Street in Lee on the Solent this morning following a man being attacked with chemicals. Police sealed off the street at the rear of the High Street jsut after 5am this morning.
Police officers and Paramedics rushed to scene after neighbours raised the alarm of a man screaming that he’d been attacked near to the rear of the Solent funeral directors in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters trained to analyse the compound of chemicals using specialist equipment. Police called in the specialist unit from Hampshire Fire and rescue service based at Winchester The DIM unit is staffed by fully trained and qualified operators deployed with the initial aim of delivering a substance detection, analysis and identification capability. After the man was rushed to hospital. Police have confirmed that they have launched an investigation in a chemical incident attack.
In a statement they released the following:
Officers are investigating a report that a 47 year-old man was assaulted in Lee-on-the-Solent early this morning (May 3).

The victim reported that he was approached by two men on the High Street as he was leaving for work at around 4am. During the assault an unknown liquid was thrown in the victims face.

He described the first man as:
• Tanned.
• Around 5ft 7ins tall.
• Medium build.
• Dark hair.
• Aged in his early twenties.
• He was wearing a blue or black tracksuit with a QPR emblem on the left shoulder, and white trainers.
• He had a ring on his wedding finger.

The victim described the second man as:
• White.
• 5ft 6ins tall.
• Skinny.
• Aged in his late teens.
• He had a beard around his jaw line.
• He was wearing blue jeans, a blue and white striped top under a black bomber jacket

An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened and specialist resources from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were deployed as a precaution to enable officers to identify the nature of the liquid that the victim described. This substance does not present a wider risk to the local community.

The victim has been taken to hospital to be treated for injuries to his face.
