The 21-year-old man who is accused of Murdering PCSO Julia James appeared in court for a second time this morning charged with her murder. Callum Wheeler, of Sunshine Corner Avenue, Aylesham, stands accused of killing the 53-year-old mum-of-two, who found dead on a remote track in Snowdown. He appeared via a video link from HM Prison Belmarsh. Dressed in a grey prison tracksuit wearing a black face mask the defendant sat with his armed folded throughout the 20-minute hearing. No application for bail was made.
Wheeler was charged on Monday with the murder of Julia, who worked with the domestic violence unit at Canterbury police station.
Mr Martin Yale for the Prosecution said that the Police required more time due to the amount of forensic examination required on various items that also included an iron bar. Wheeler’s appearance in court comes just over two weeks when Julia James was found in what the Prosecution say was a violent and random attack with no motive in woodland in Aylesham in Kent. Wheeler is next set to appear on June 8, with a trial date set for 29th November last in the year with a trial expected to last four weeks.
