police seal off property after pensioners found in unexplained circumstances

Residents in Albert Road on the Isle of Wight have woken to the scene of a property sealed off by Police and covered over with a white forensic tent. Police have launched an investigation after the pensioners who lived at the property for over 15 years were found in unexplained circumstances.

Police were called to Albert Road just after 7am this morning (Monday 20th June).

Residents on the road are having to give their details to officers to enter the road to gain access to their properties. One local said she believed that one of the couple was very ill and had been for some time. She said, “They were in a pretty bad way. It’s very sad they where a really nice couple.

“When my grandchildren came to stay, the woman uses to give the child sweets when they went past.”

Forensic investigators have been at the property all morning along with the Police scene of crime photographer.

Police have advised that the cordon is likely to remain in place for most of the day and have thanked residents for their patience whilst they probe circumstances. It is believed to be an isolated incident.

Hampshire Constabulary have said that officers found the body of a 77-year-old male alongside the body of a 83-year-old woman at an address on Albert Road this morning.

No one else is being sought in connection with either death.

The cause of death is yet to be established, however detectives are continuing to work with forensic officers to establish the full circumstances surrounding both deaths.
