A 28 year mum of Two named locally as Stacey Jackson is being quizzed by detectives from Dorset police after severe fire ripped through a semi-detached property in Duritt Road Christchurch just after 9pm on Monday Evening.

Emergency services from Dorset/Wiltshire and Hampshire Fire and Rescue services rushed to the scene,after heroic neighbours alerted the service to the fire after they pulled the woman from the blazing property. Six appliances tackled the blaze as flames ripped through the property that is believed to have been started deliberately with a candle and bedding being set alight in the living room.
A Father and Two Children have now been left homeless as a result of the action and irreplaceable memories have been lost.

Before raising the alarm a 61 Year old Lorry driver and his granddaughter who are being hailed as local heroes pulled the woman from the blazing property,as flames flicked out the living room window.

Speaking outside the cordon off property. 61-year-old Victor Salway and his 17 year water sports Student Debbie Salway explained that they had heard banging outside the as they where getting ready for bed. Debbie said at the first she thought its was the neighbours arguing so Victor went outside and was faced with neighbour’s house on fire.
Shouting for Debbie to call the fire service Victor ran back to the front of property that was engulfed in flames with a garden hose to try to knock down them whilst neighbour Phil Brolan had grabbed a fire extinguisher to try to create a gap as the flames where at the front door.
Debbie managed to get to the front door who helped Stacey from the property after she became trapped on the stairs.
Debbie explained that they where really worried as there is normally two young children who live in the property.

I was on the phone to the fire service trying to give them details whilst also trying to help Stacey from the property. I felt like ages for the fire service to arrive.

Dorset and Wiltshire fire control sent Six appliances to the property with forty fire crew tackling the fire with smoke that could be seen from as far as the local Mcdonalds on the nearby Christchurch Road. Eight Fire crews with breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using 4 main jets and two hose reels. A Seven week old puppy was treated by fire crews at the scene with oxygen therapy and then collected by a vet from the PDSA after inhaling smoke from the fire.

Many resident have been left shocked by the evening events some have said that they thought the woman was suffering from a mental health issues.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fire service who are working closely with Dorset Police.

Stacey Jackson was given shelter by the Salway’s until the arrival of Paramedics who checked over the female. She was than arrested by Police. A Crowd started to clap and cheer as Jackson was who was now under arrest for arson was led kicking and screaming to a near by Police vehicle.
Officers stopped the vehicle after a sort time and transferred the woman into a Police Van after she started to bang her head and become violent toward the officers.

Police had to call back paramedics after Jackson collapsed in the back of the vehicle. She has now been taken to Bournemouth Police station.

A spokeswoman for said :”Dorset Police were called at 9.17pm today, Monday 20 June 2016, by the fire service to reports of a fire at an address in Druitt Road in Christchurch.
Initially it was reported that two children were still inside the address but it was quickly identified that they were staying with family elsewhere.
A puppy has been taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment.
An investigation is under way to establish the exact cause of the fire and a cordon is in place.
A 28-year-old local woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but did not require hospital treatment. She has been arrested on suspicion of arson and is assisting officers with enquiries.
