A number of fire crews from Basingstoke and neighbouring retained station Odiham were called to tackle the blaze on Egerton Drive in Basingstoke just after 2.30pm this afternoon. The property was unattended at the time. The fire that is believed to have started in the garden and spread to the property.
It has caused damaged to the rear of the property on both the ground and first floors. The kitchen has bene badly damaged. The heat has also melted the guttering on the rear of the property.
Due to the quick attendants of the Fire crews after neighbours spotted smoke and raised the alarm, crews managed to stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the property. Fire crews used one hose reel to extinguish the flames . Two fire appliances from Basingstoke remain on the scene at the incident. They have since handed the incident over to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police. Officers where also called to the incident as crews had to break into the property. An area around the property remains cordon off.
