Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 70s was robbed in the pathway between Hinkler Road and Vaughan Close between 4.30pm and 5pm on Wednesday, November 23.
The woman was walking away from the local shops when she felt someone pull on the strap of her handbag from behind.
The man, described as wearing a hooded top with the hood up, pulled the bag from the woman’s shoulder causing her to fall over. He ran off with the handbag towards Holcroft Road.
The woman did not sustain any lasting injuries however did initially suffer bruising to her arm.
The man has been described as:
• 5 feet 10 inches
• Slim build
• Wearing a dark blue jacket/top with hood up
• Dark blue jeans
The woman’s handbag is described as a blue leather-effect Fiorelli handbag
which contained £35 in cash in a turquoise purse with small crystal attached.
The purse also contained a photograph of the victim when she was 5-years-old which has great sentimental value. It also contained a cream-coloured compact mirror which is personally engraved.
DC Laura Hardy from the Western Investigation Team said: “This is a cowardly crime committed against a vulnerable person. Items of sentimental value have been taken that cannot be replaced.
“I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with knowledge of this incident to assist us with our enquiries. Do you recognise the description of this man?
