Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision in Southampton on Thursday, December 15.

A black Mercedes CLK200 and a pedestrian were in collision at the junction of The Avenue and Westwood Road at 10.55pm.

The Mercedes was travelling north from Stag Gates and the pedestrian was crossing from Westwood Road.

The pedestrian, a 27-year-old man from Southampton, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Southampton, has been arrested in connection with the collision. He was uninjured.

Sergeant Alex Rawdon-Smith from the Roads Policing Unit said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Mercedes beforehand should call 101, quoting 44160472996.”
