The fire took hold at around 6am and has devastated the family business on Albert Road in Southsea. The Police and the fire service have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze that ripped through the commercial property and also broke through to a flat above the property.
An eyewitness said: “Described the terrifying sound as fire ripped through a Southsea dry cleaning owned by Neighbours reported a series of bangs sounding similar to gunshots as the blaze erupted.
Sally Barker and her daughter Herminoe were woken by the blaze. The noise of the firefighters using the water in the street woke me up at around 6am. It sounded like three gunshots.
