Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on the A33 this morning.

Officers were called at 6.35am to the A33 at Chineham following a collision involving four vehicles.

The vehicles involved were a black Saab 93, a blue Volkswagen Passat, a white Volkswagen Tiguan and a blue Volkswagen Golf.

The male driver of the Passat and his male passenger were taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries and the male driver of the Saab was taken to North Hampshire Hospital with minor injuries.

The carriageway had to be closed in both directions due to a large amount of oil which was left on the road as a result of the collision.

Officers investigating the exact circumstances of the collision would like to hear from any witnesses who saw the incident happen or any of the vehicles prior to the collision.

Sergeant Paul White said: “We are particularly keen to speak to one witness who we think will have information which could assist our investigation – the driver of a Seat which was on the road shortly before the collision.

“We know they were not involved in what happened but we think they could help with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt White on 101, quoting incident number 145, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
