The youngster had been trying to scale the chalk pit at when he became stuck about 30m up the 70m feature.
First on the scene were the crew of a Cosham fire appliance, who immediately called in the for further specialist assistance from the Rescue tender and a second appliance also based at Cosham. The three had become trapped in the caves after a Sunday afternoon adventure. A Southsea crew equipped with an aerial ladder platform was also sent to the scene but was not needed.
The rescue operation was completed at 5.50pm – just half an hour after the emergency call came in. Crews used a 13.5 meter ladder to rescue the the trio bring them back to hard standing ground. It is not thought that any of the youngests where hurt apart from their pride
