After a four hour stand off with a distress woman with a woman sat on a parapet of a railway bridge in the middle of Winchester city centre Police have successfully talked the woman into coming down, just after 4.20pm the woman was helped by a British transport Police officer down using a ladder. The distressed woman had spent much of the morning shouting at police after they where called after concerns for her welfare.

Specialist Police negotiators have spent many hours trying to engage with the bare footed woman who is in her thirties.

Officers have now successfully got the woman to a place of safety.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said its officers were sent to the scene after a call was made at 11.34am.
