A hand and forearm found on an Isle of Wight beach in December have been identified as female, Hampshire Police have confirmed.
They have yet to discover the full identity of who the skeletal hand and arm belong to, a police spokesman said.
The grim discovery was made at Freshwater Bay, by a dog walker, police said analysis confirmed they had been in the water for a significant period of time.
Hampshire Constabulary is continuing its investigation.
