Driver arrested and Cyclist Airlifted to Hospital after Serious Collision in Fratton

A Cyclist has been rushed to hospital by air ambulance after collision with a white citroen on a busy Portsmouth roundabout.

The cyclist was taken to hospital after a crash on a busy Fratton roundabout in the city.

The collision happened shortly after 6.00pm on Thursday (June 1st).

A spokesman from Hampshire Police said: “Officers from the Road Policing based at Havant are currently attending a collision. South Central Ambulance Service attended and found the cyclist with serious injuries he has been treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital.

Road closures were put in place and still remain with Fratton Road and Goldsmith Avenue at a standstill.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said the cyclist was treated and taken as a priority to a major trauma centre in Southampton.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
