Young broke into a car in a Havant car park on 23 June and stole luggage containing a debit card. He then broke into the same car a week later on 30 June and stole a dash cam camera, CD kit and two first aid kits.

He was stopped and searched by officers in the area on 30 June, when they found items from both thefts, as well as bladed items and drugs.

Officers located the owner, who disclosed that there had been two attempts to use the stolen debit card in a shop in Leigh Park.

Young appeared in court on 3 July and pleaded guilty to:

2 x theft from a motor vehicle

2 x fraud by misrepresentation

2 x possession of a bladed article in a public place

1 x possession of a controlled drug of class B

PC Amanda-Jane Williams, said: “A 30-week custodial sentence for Young is a great result for the aggrieved and the community alike, following the quick actions of the attending officers that linked him to the theft from motor vehicle, which had just happened, and other historical offences.”
