Police are currently on scene at scene of a fatal road traffic collision in Winchester.

Officers from Havant and Whitchurch Roads Policing units were called just after 12.40pm this afternoon following a collision involving two cars and motorcycle on the A272 north of Morestead.

The A272 is closed from the junction with the A31 up until the road which leads to Owslebury.

There is also a second closure further along at the junction with A32 which is in place for HGVs.

Police are asking drivers avoid the area and take alternative routes.

The collision involving a Landrover discovery a Skoda and high powered Yamaha motorbike happened near to the Cheesefoot head car park. Despite efforts of paramedics the rider died at the scene of the incident. It is understood that the rider of machine was in collision with the rear of the Skoda and was sadly struck by the Landrover discovery. Police have advised that the section of Road is likely to be closed for a number of hours for collision and accident investigation work to be carried out. The vehicle will then need to be recovered and the road surfaces made safe due to a small spillage of oil from the motorbike.
