Officers from Hampshire Roads Policing have closed a stretch of motorway between junction 11 and junction 12 this evening (Wednesday) following a serious collision involving Six Vehicles. A diversion is in place and drivers are being advised to following the the black hollow symbol whilst Police deal with the incident. The M27 eastbound entry slip at junction 11 has also been closed by Police and Highways England traffic officers due to the collision. It is understood that a Single vehicle was involved in a collision than furthers collision happened. A source has said that the motorway is likely to be closed for a number of hours. Fire crews from Fareham and Cosham have been called to the incident that happened just after 8.30 on Wednesday evening. Fire fighters worked with South Central ambulance Service paramedics and treated nine people who had been involved in the multi vehicle collsion

The diversion and advice from Highways England: Exit at Junction 11 and take the 3rd exit off the roundabout onto the A27. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A27 eastbound (Porchester Road). Continue on the A27 to M27 roundabout. Take the 2nd exit to join the A27 eastbound and to allow plenty of extra time for their journey.

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said : We are currently dealing with a six vehicle collision on the M27 between junctions 10 and 11. As a result, the eastbound carriageway is currently closed.

There is a large volume of traffic on the road due to this incident, and we would advise motorists to avoid the area and seek an alternative route while the closures remain in place.
Emergency services are doing everything they can to ensure the motorway is cleared as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate this is an inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we deal with this incident.

A Spokeswoman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said :Nine people had been injured in the collision.

We sent crews from two stations, Fareham and Cosham to the incident. Crews using cutting equipment to free two people and a dog from the wreckage.

It is not known if anyone involved in the incident has been badly hurt.

The road closure and the collision has now been removed by Police recovery contractors and all lanes have now reopened.
