These pictures show the shocking aftermath after a fire ripped through a mid terrace house in Mitcham, Surrey in the early hours on Monday morning. A man who is understood to have been asleep when the fire ripped through the property on Hoylake Gardens remains in hospital after jumping from the 1st floor window, that had melted due to the heat.

The property remains sealed off and under police guard whilst crime scene and fire investigators carrying a full investigation into the cause of the fire. Four other men who were in the property were treated by Paramedics from London Ambulance services. The Polish Nationals who only have the clothes that they stand up in spoke at the scene describing how flames ripped thorough the property. One said that the thought it started in the hallway on the stairs. “Fire Fire” I heard my friend calling to get out to save myself. The smoke was thick and black it filled my room. The Mid terrace three Bedroom property has been left 75% damaged by fire. It took Six fire appliances and 35 fire crew to deal with the blaze that broke out before 6am. Six Fire crews attended from Norbury, Mitcham, West Norwood, Wimbledon and Croydon. Two ambulances where also sent to the scene.
