A Police chase has resulted in a two vehicle serious collision and a man been treated in hospital and a second man being arrested. Police attempted to stop a to carry out a stop check on aBlue BMW near Waterloo in London in the early hours on Thursday morning. The vehicle failed to stop and pursuit ensued. The BMW that collided with a Vauxhall Vectra on the junction of Gray’s Inn Road and Clerkenwell Road in Central London. Police cordoned off the street and an investigation as been launched after the car is understood to have jumped a red light colliding with the car and a set of traffic signs. Two Men in the Vauxhall Vectra has been taken to hospital with minor injuries. Police have not revealed why they were attempting to stop the vehicle but have ruled out any terror links.
A Met Police Spokesman Said:At approximately 2.15am on Thursday, 23 November officers attempted to stop a car in the Waterloo area.The vehicle failed to stop and an authorised pursuit took place.
A short time later, the suspect vehicle passed through a red traffic light before colliding with a second vehicle on Clerkenwell Road at the junction with Gray’s Inn Road.
Additional officers, the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service attended.
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police and dangerous driving. He has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.
