Thirty Three coach passengers have escaped injury after a car pulled into path of the packed coach crashing into the side of it. The day tripping pensioners had been returning from a day out in Salisbury. The Coach driver a local man has been taken to the nearby Queen Alexandra hospital this evening following the collision between a Silver Ford Focus and 49 seater Irizar Coach.
The driver has been treated for whiplash and shock. The collision happened on Northern Road in Cosham, Portsmouth just after 5.45pm on Tuesday evening (November 28th). Police closed the road for a short time to aid recovery of the casualty vehicles.
The collision is understood to have been captured on CCTV fitted to the Coach showing the Silver Focus pulling into the path of the coach. The driver has been praised by passengers taking action to averted a serious collision. Despite being in pain the driver called the emergency services and checked that non of those onboard were injured.
Emergency services rushed to the scene. One fire appliance from Cosham attended and made the vehicles and the scene safe a small oil spill was also dealt with. Two ambulances from South Centre ambulance services supported by a rapid response Paramedic attended. A large amount of officers from Hampshire Police also attended. It is understood that the driver of the focus admitted fault at the scene.
