breaking fire crews called to major gas leak in southsea

Five Fire crews have been called to deal with a gas leak in the Central of Southsea this morning (Sunday 11th March 2018).
Western Parade, adjacent to Southsea Common, has been closed to traffic whilst the Fire crews assist Southern Gas engineers.
With the closure of Duisburg Way for resurfacing all traffic must now divert past Clarence Pier or avoid the area altogether.
Crews are working with Southern Gas networks in order to make the area safe. It is understood that that specialist environmental unit based at Romsey Fire Station has been brought in to assist fire fighters at the scene near the sea front.
A team from Southern Gas Networks are also at the scene.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at 9.14am this morning to reports of a gas leak at Western Parade.
