Drug Addict James Arbery has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for robbing a Central Convenience store at knife point in order to pay off his drug debts.
Arbery, of Carisbrooke Road, covered his face with a black stocking mask in broad daylight and entered the Central Convenience store on Upper St James’ Street in the centre of Newport on 9th February this year, as previously reported He pulled a knife on the store’s cashier before making off with £200.
He than ran off and was shortly caught by Police.
Despite pleas for a suspended sentence, James Arbery has been given an immediate custodial sentence of 32 months, of which he will serve half. He pleaded guilty to robbery and threatening the staff member.
