If you have filled up with fuel at Harwood’s Garage in Wootton on the Isle of Wight and have problems with your vehicles it’s down to contaminated fuel. Bosses at the garage have admitted that diesel had put into the unleaded tank in error but despite knowing the error had take place on Thursday continued to sell the fuel to customer well into Friday morning. Only after being may aware by a customer did they than take the fuel off sale. The repair bill is understood to possible run into thousand following the blunder. Red face bosses despite UKNIP attempting to contact them have issued the following statement advising effected how to make a claim;
On the afternoon of Thursday 3rd May Certas Energy delivered fuel to Harwood’s Garage, during this delivery Certas made an error in the delivery of fuel to one of our tanks.
We were unaware of any error in this delivery until Friday morning. After contacting Certas it was confirmed that they had made an error in delivery of fuel to one of our tanks. As soon as we were aware of the situation we took appropriate action and closed any affected fuel pumps immediately.
Harwood’s is a family run, Island business and for the last 85 years we have looked after Island motorists, delivering high customer service is paramount to us. We have been working closely with Certas to confirm the best course of action due to their error. No fuel has been served from the affected tank since last Friday morning (4th May).
Any customers who have experienced any issues after purchasing unleaded fuel between 1.00pm on Thursday 3rd May until 10.30am on Friday 4th May should contact Certas Energy’s insurance company direct who will process any repair claims due to this error. Please hold onto receipts and proof of fuel purchase.
