Manhunt for white van an in attempted abduction in Romney Marsh

Witnesses sought to suspicious incident in St Mary’s Bay

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a report of a suspicious incident in Romney Marsh.

At about 5.35pm on Saturday 5 May a woman in her 20s was waiting at the bus stop in Dymchurch Road, near to the junction with Fairway Close, St Mary’s Bay when a large white van – similar in size to a transit van – pulled up alongside her.

It was reported a man, who had got out of the van, approached her and grabbed her by the arm, but the victim was able to get away and run to safety.

The man was described as aged in his 50s, with olive skin, a stocky build and about 5 ft 8 ins tall. He had a grey beard and short grey curly hair.

He was wearing a dark zipped up hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms.
