A road remains closed on the Isle of Wight following a head on collision. Emergency services where called to the Horrific scene just after 10.30pm on Friday evening. Fire crews supported Paramedics after one person was thrown from a mini. The cause of the collision is under investigation. Specialists collision investigators have taken over the incident from officers from the joint roads policing team on the Isle of Wight. It is understood that it took an hour to stabilise the person involved in the horror crash. Police remain at the scene on Apse Manor Road on the outskirts of Shanklin. It is understood the vehicle had rolled on to its roof after also hitting the bank and ended up in a field. Specialists are using scanning equipment to create a computer model of the collision. Officers at the scene have advised that the road is likely to remain closed until the early hours on Saturday morning.
UPDATE:One person remains in hospital in a critical condition. Police removed the closure just after 4am this morning. Fire crews were advised that there were possible persons trapped in the vehicle. On arrival it became clear this was not the case and the person had been thrown from the vehicle.
