Driver left fighting for their life in critical condition after being thrown from vehicle on the Isle of Wight

The driver involved in a collision on the Isle of Wight remains in a critical condition this morning. It is understood that the driver was thrown from bmw mini that they where driving after it crashed and came to rest on its roof on Friday evening. The collision saw Apse Manor Road near Shanklin closed for nearly six hours whilst Police carried out their investigations. The driver after being stabilised at the scene was rushed to St Mary’s Hospitial in Newport. They remain in a critical condition. Police are exploring the theory that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The man is being treated for neck, face, shoulder and arm injuries.
No other vehicle is believed to have been involved.

Police are investigating and are asking for any witnesses to call them on 101.
An appeal for witnesses is expected soon from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police.
