Portsmouth Woman remains critical following Freshwater Collision

Police on the Isle of Wight are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a crash on Middle Road yesterday (Monday) which has left a 62-year-old woman in a critical condition in hospital.

As previously reported, emergency services were called to the crossroads on Middle Road at Dodpits Lane/Brook Road in Chessell at around 5pm on Monday afternoon.

The driver of a white Toyota Yaris, a 62-year-old woman from Hilsea in Portsmouth, is said to have suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition at Southampton General Hospital. She was airlifted to the mainland by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.
The passenger of the Toyota, a 62-year-old man from Hilsea, and the driver of the Honda, a 25-year-old man from Newport, both suffered serious injuries and were taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

The road remains closed today whilst officers carry out enquiries.
