Fire crews tackle shop fire in Centre of Farnborough

Firefighters from both Hampshire and Surrey have been called to tackle a fire that has broken out In a hardware shop in the centre of Farnborough town centre.

A large cordon has been thrown up around the shop as crews tackle the blaze with jets and high pressure hose reels. Crews from Rushmoor, Basingstoke and Camberley are currently in attendance at a shop fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation

Smoke is billowing from the shop front. Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area whilst emergency services deal with incident . A shop worker has been treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and been taken to hospital.

A statement from the service read: “Firefighters from Rushmoor, Basingstoke and Surrey have tackled a fire on the ground floor of a hardware shop in Farnborough town centre.

“A female was treated by crews for smoke inhalation.

“Crews tackled the fire with 12 sets of breathing apparatus, two jets, three hose reels and use of a positive pressure ventilation system to clear the scene.

“The cause of the fire will be investigated in due course. The stop came in at 2.11pm.”
