Teenage boy robbed in Portsmouth

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was robbed in Portsmouth.

Between 8.45pm and 8.55pm on Monday 6 August, the 17-year-old victim was walking along Sydenham Terrace when he was approached by a man he did not know.

The man threatened the victim with a knife before taking the victim’s black leather Nike bag from him.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw this man in the area.

He has been described as:

Aged in his 40s
5ft 10ins tall
Shaven head
Tattoo around his belly button
The man was described as wearing shorts and was carrying a white T-shirt.

Detective Constable Sharon Lewry said: “We would like to hear from anyone who has any information that can help us investigate this crime and identify the man responsible.

“Did you see what happened? Did you see this man in the area, or do you know who he is?

“I would like to reassure people that this is an isolated incident, and would advise members of the public to be vigilant during the evening and to ensure they walk in busy well lit areas.”
