A sick Patient was taken to Sea Close in Newport on the Isle of Wight under Police escort this afternoon. The patient was moving by ambulance due to the helicopter landing pad being in use by the Thames Valley air ambulance at St Mary’s Hospital.

Officers from the Island Response and Patrol gave the Isle of Wight ambulance with the patient and two nurses on board a blue light escort from St Mary’s to Sea Close in Newport. The unusual site brought a gathering of people as the Hampshire and Isle of Wight ambulance landed on the grass near to the council offices. The man in his 60’s was loaded onto the helicopter and then flown off to Southampton General Hospital.
