Firefighters from the Isle of Wight fire and rescued service have been called to an address on the Island to assist in the removal of a casualty from a their property. Emergency crews were mobilised to support Paramedics just after 11.30am on Bank Holiday Monday to St Thomas Square in Ryde. The road was closed in both directions whilst the recovery operation took place. Two fire crews and a specialist aerial ladder platform where called in to assist in the removal of the sick person. After removal of windows the sick patient was transferred in the basket of the ALP and slowly lowered to ground before being transferred into an awaiting ambulance. They have since been transferred to St Mary’s Hospitial in Newport.
