A driver had escaped serious injury after the car that he was driving flipped on to its roof in Totland on the Isle of Wight earlier this evening (Thursday 30th August 2018).
An Isle of Wight fire crew stationed at Freshwater where called to the incident on Colwell Road, Totland that involved a single vehicle. The black Renault hatch car had clipped the wall and hit a fence them flipped coming to rest on its roof. The driver self-rescued before the arrival of the fire service.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance service also attended with Officers from Hampshire Constabulary. Paramedics treated one person at the scene who did not require hospital treatment following the low-speed collision.
The area was made safe by the attending fire crew using an Environment Agency spill kit to stop fuel from leaking into a nearby drain. The wreckage was removed by Police contactors.
