As investigations into the cause of a fire that ripped through two hotels in Sandown on the Isle of Wight some thirteen hours after the fire broke out.


Firefighters are still on scene with an aerial ladder platform and appliances from both Hampshire and the Isle of Wight damping down hot spots in both of the chard remains. Southern Gas Networks have also capped off Gas that kept the blaze burning throughout the day. Crews committed in breathing apparatus had to withdraw from the building as they became too unsafe to tackle the fire internally.

Some road closure in the Sandown area have been lifted. Parts of Culver Parade remain closed to Pedestrians and vehicles. The following closure are between Crescent Road and Victoria Road Crescent Road is also closed between Culver Parade and Avenue Road.
Southern Vectis: routes 2 and 3 are running normally, route 8 is still diverted and this will remain the case until the closures have been lifted.
