Ocado employees still have jobs say company

breaking news live blog as andover fire rages on

In there own words as the fire continues in their Andover site:

On Monday we had over 700 people employed in Andover and although we had a devastating fire, guess what – we still have over 700 employees!

We value our people and for that reason everyone is still employed and being paid until further notice. Whilst it is still early days we have numerous teams in various locations who are working tirelessly to plan next steps and provide guidance to staff.

We are taking one day at a time and trying to communicate as best we can so don’t forget you can come along to The Hayward Suite at the Wolversdene Club, Love Lane, Andover, SP10 2AA for refreshments at our drop in centre from 10.00 a.m. on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th.

I am extremely grateful for our onsite staff who’ve shown amazing strength and resilience over the past two days – Team Managers, Ops Managers, Engineering, H&S, IT, HR, Training, senior managers and many others from Head Office. Also to all our other employees who have supported each other and offered very kind words.

I’m in awe of our emergency services and despite it being he toughest fire they’ve ever attended I hope they feel proud of what they have done for us. They gave us hope and did the best they could but most importantly kept everyone safe.

Thank you to so many others who have offered support and help. Wolversdene Club for the venue availability, Active Staff for offering office space, Nidec for printing services, Tesco for offering Ocado staff refreshments and all the lovely local people and businesses of Andover who have offered there services.

We are all feeling the love from Andover so thank you for showing such support at this difficult time
