Scammers targeting Isle of Wight residents over tax bill payments

warning over phone calls by bogus police

Police officers on the Isle of Wight have been made aware that Scammers are contacting people by phone, demanding that they pay their tax bill with Amazon Vouchers.

The caller is claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs threatening arrest if a large purchase of vouchers is not made. This is a SCAM please don’t be caught out!

An investigation has been launched after a number of residents alerted officers that they had calls. Police haven’t confirmed if anyone has been duped and carried out the request to purchase the vouchers. It’s under that at least twenty calls have been made.
