Two valuable bicycles that have been stolen from a shed in Lee on Solent.
The break in happened sometime over the last week to a shed located in the rear garden of a property. Both are Giant bicycles, one is a “Defy 2” in bronze (pictured below) and the other is an “Avail” in purple.
Police would like to take the opportunity to remind all bike owners of a few security arrangements that can help to avoid being the victim of bike theft.
Ensure you use an approved Sold Secure “D” lock to secure your bike. – visit www.soldsecure.com for more information.
Always lock your bike through the frame to a solid structure that is fixed to the ground, preferably a dedicated bike rack.
Park your bike in a well-lit busy area that is covered by CCTV.
If you have any quick-release items on your bike, make sure you take them with you or lock them to the bike.
Register your bike for free at www.immobilise.com. The police use this to reunite stolen or lost property with its rightful owner.
If you are in private rented accommodation and you keep your bike in a shed or garage, make sure there is a decent lock on the door and the bike can be secured with a “D” lock to an anchor point that is fixed into the ground.
