Two people have been successfully rescued from onboard a sinking fishing boat that had started raking on water this evening.
A lifeboat and a Coastguard search and rescue team were both mobilsed to assist the 18ft vessel shortly after 7pm.
The Cowes RNLI lifeboat used a pump to remove water from the sinking vessel before towing the vessel and two crew back to Trinity landing in Cowes.
The pair were them met by Ventnor Coastguard.
A UK Coastguard spokesperson said: “The Cowes lifeboat was launched to assist a f vessel taking on water in Osborne Bay. Members of the lifeboat crew used a pump to remove water from onboard the vessel before setting up a tow to bring the vessel back into Cowes harbour
They have pumped out the water and towed the vessel to Cowes.”
The Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team met the lifeboat, and fishing boat crew, as they arrived at Trinity Landing.
