Six fire appliances and fourty fire fighters have been mobilsed to an explosion and a fire in Farnham this evening.

Fire crews along with other emergency services were mobilsed just after 11pm on Saturday evening to Station Hill in Farnham.

Station Hill Newsagents and off licence is said to be well alight after a huge explosion was heard rocking near by shops and homes
Flames are shooting out from the shop frontage.

Fire crews from both Surrey and Hampshire have been mobilsed to the incident.
Officers from Surrey Police have thrown up a massive cordon and a road closure has been put in place.

South East Coast ambulance service have sent a number of rescources to the incident including a HART team.

A number of residents are being evacuated from nearby properties above the newsagent that are understood to be flats on second and third floors by police officers.

A spokesman for Surrey fire and Rescue said: Fire crews are dealing a fire in a building consisting of 3 floors used as a off license and flats.

A Fire has broken out in the ground floor – Fire crews from Farnham, Rushmoor,Guildford, Godalming, Camberley and the Incident Command Unit from Painshill are attending.

Fire investigation Officers from Surrey have also been sent to the incident.

One resident who asked not to be named said”We were in the mulberry when it happened, got evacuated and had to go through station and down firgrove. Total chaos and panic, tried calming people down and helping minor injuries. People were out of flat above chip shop just hope they got out of flat above shop as they filled with smoke.

Update: Surrey fire have said that everyone has been safely evacuated and their are no reported injuries as a result of the fire ball. Crews are still tackling the fire.
