Emergency services have been called to a collision between a car and motorcycle at Apse Heath on the Isle of Wight this lunchtime (Saturday).

The collision has taken place on the Newport Road between Raj’s Premier store and Morrison’s roundabout and happened just before 12.30pm on Saturday, March 30th.

One fire crew from the Islands fire service has been sent to the incident to carry out scene safety and fears that a person may be trapped.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance have also been sent to the incident to treat the patients involved.

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary have closed the road and traffic is heavy in both directions. The road is likely to be closed for a period of time.

Two people have been taken to hospital one by land ambulance and a motorcyclist has been flown by air ambulance.

The occupant of the Silver car who was initially feared to be trapped, has not required extrication by fire fighters from Sandown and Ryde.

The driver has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance.
