Injured man found on railway tracks on the Isle of Wight

Train services have been suspended on the Isle of Wight after an injured man was found at the side of the track this afternoon.

Emergency services have been called to treat the man who has facial injuries . He is alive and breathing.

Emergency crews rushed to St Johns Railway station following the discovery of a person laying down beside the railway track in Ryde this lunchtime (Thursday).

Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are attending to a male at the side of the track heading towards Ryde Esplanade.

Trains are currently unable to operate in either direction.

A spokesman for South Western Railway say the incident is that of trespass.

The individual is conscious and breathing but bloodied having sustained what appears to be a facial injury.

It is unclear how the male same to in the position he is.
