999 Hoaxer sparks 5th emergency responce to property in Wootton

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has answered a fifth hoax call to a property in Wootton on the Island this evening.

Appliances from Newport and Ryde and a special appliance from Newport were mobilised to St Edmunds Walk at around 9.45pm on Sunday evening following a 999 call.

The attendance of the service marked a fifth call to the address in the past weeks costing thousands of pounds.

A source for the fire service has revealed that an elderly resident who has issues lives at the property and the fire service is working with partner agencies to resolve the hoax calls
