Firefighters and an ambulance were called to Lugley Street in Newport on the Isle of Wight in the early hour of Friday morning following a 999 call for help.

One fire appliance and an aerial ladder platform from Newport were sent to the address following an assistants message to help remove a sick patient from there property.

A man fallen and had damaged his back

Paramedics from the Isle of Wight ambulance service were called just after 3am.

Due to the restrictions within the property the patient had to be placed into a basket stretcher and remove via a window using the aerial ladder platform.

The road was closed for a short time during the complex operation that took just over an hour to complete.

One person has been safety transported to
St Mary’s hospital.
