Hundreds of vehicles are stuck on a Wightlink ferry that has docked at Portsmouth this afternoon due to a linkspan fault.
The break down has caused a major headache for the ferry operator Wightlink as an engineer tries to fix the faulty piece of essential equipment, used to load and unload the ferry.
It hasn’t been plain sailing this morning for the Island ferry operator after the multimillion pound vessel Victoria of Wight developed a fault of the lower linkspan on an earlier sailing.
The 12pm midday sailings from Portsmouth and Fishbourne have been cancelled.
The cancellation is likely to have a knock-on effect for the service timetable for most of the day.
UPDATE: Wightlink have removed all available spaces and sailing from there web site in an attempt to get back on track. Both Portsmouth and Fishbourne are only allowing booked passengers into the terminals. Adhoc customers are being turned away advising the earliest booking is 8.30pm on Friday to travel.
