A fire crew from Shanklin has been called to a suspected hazardous material incident in Sandown Isle of Wight this morning.
Firefighters were called just after 10am to a block of flats in Leeds Street in the town.
The flats have been cordoned off and an Haz Mat trained officer from the service has also been mobilised to the incident.
After a liquid was sprayed onto the door of a flat.
A spokesman for the Island’s Fire and Rescue Service said” We are attending what has been described as a potential hazardous materials incident in Sandown we have sent one fire crew and they are currently investigating after some liquid was sprayed on a door of one of the properties in Leeds Road.
UPDATE: The Fire crews have used a hose reel to remove what is understood to be bleach from the front door.
One man has been checked by paramedics from the Islands ambulance service.
A source has revealed that this is an on going investigation of harassment by a man whom police will be arresting and questioning later.
The source also revealed that those involved have mental health issues and the wider public are not at risk that the attack was a targeted one.
