Woman airlifted by Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 175 following a fall in West Wight

major rescue operation after father and daughter get stuck in the mud after getting lost in beaulieu

A woman has been airlifted to St Mary’s Hospital by Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter this evening(Tuesday).

The rescue operation swung into action at the Grange Chine directly after the woman sustained an injury at the bottom of the chine.

The UK Coastguard mobilised the Rescue helicopter 175 and Needles Coastguard Rescue Team to the scene off Military Road just before 11 pm.

Due to the steep and remote terrain, the helicopter was scrambled to airlift the casualty

The helicopter lowered a winchman down to the injured casualty and the coastguard team used a highline to guide in the winchman. The woman was then winched on to the helicopter and then flown St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

The woman’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
