Two remain in hospital after falling ill on Walk the Wight

Two people remain in hospital after collapsing with suspected heart attacks whilst carrying out walk the Wight 2019.

Two air ambulance from Hampshire and Dorset airlifted the seriously ill people.

One was flown to Bournemouth and the other Southampton.

Many of those involved in the walk stopped and gave aid one person collapsed at Brook and a second collapsed at Highdown.

The assistance of the emergency services has been called on and two air ambulance were called upon.

The two people involved are being taken to hospital and next of kin are being informed.

A spokesman for the Mountbatten hospice said that they were very grateful for the assistance of everyone involved including event staff and members of the public.

Over 8,000 walkers, Walked the Wight is to raise much needed funds for the running of the Isle of Wight hospice.
